Providing the population of resource territories with a long-term high standard of living and creating conditions for sustainable socio-economic development even after the depletion of mineral and raw material potential are urgent problems of state policy in relation to resource regions. In the development of strategies to eliminate the problems faced by such regions during the reduction of mineral extraction, the factor of cyclical development of raw material regions and their ability to further social adaptation not only by increasing the level of mineral extraction is rarely taken into account. Thus, the purpose of this article is to clarify the definition of a resource region and to develop our own concept of cyclicality of mono-industrial territories, which could be applied to further research on the adaptation of such regions. The study is based on a comparative analysis of general and specialized works concerning the study of raw material regions. As a result of the study, the authors developed their own cyclicality mechanism of mono-industrial territories. At the same time, separate development strategies were proposed for each stage of the life cycle of the resource territory. The conducted research can be applied in the expansion of scientific knowledge regarding the cyclical development of raw material territories, and the developed mechanism and proposed development strategies could be used as a basis for the preparation of specific instructions and methodological recommendations for urban formations and municipalities.
