The article examines the socio-economic development of the city of Kyzyl-Kiya during the years of the country's independence. Kyrgyzstan, like other countries of the post-Soviet space, began the transition to market relations in the context of a deep economic crisis. Kyzyl-Kiya mining department, one of the largest industrial enterprises in the city. The crisis had a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the city. The collapse of the economic mechanisms and internal production relations left over from the USSR weakened the manufacturing sector and led to a new way of thinking, a new way of operating in a market economy and a new solution to economic and financial issues. The article also contains a brief description of the status and transition of coal production from the public to the private sector. And also analyzed the implementation of the program of socio-economic development of the city of Kyzyl-Kiya.
