Socio-economic development of Crimea after the union to the Russian empire

This article analyzes the economic and social development of the Crimean Peninsula after annexation to Russia in 1783. After the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the Russian government faced significant problems associated with serious changes in the ethnic composition of the peninsula's population. The mass emigration of the Crimean Tatars to Turkey served to ruin the economic potential of the Crimean peninsula. To improve the situation, an order was adopted to settle the Crimea. Economic, material and world events have influenced the diversity of peoples who settled in the deserted territories of the Crimean peninsula.
