The social and class structure of the Russian society: some trends of the development

He author analyzes the model of the class structure for the Russian society during the post-Soviet period. The focus of the article is made on the interdependence between stratification structure and type of society. Class concept is not a outdate construct, but the important analytical tool to study the social processes. The author considers the resource approach as a base to compose a class map and outlines six main classes. The current class structure in many respects highlights the crucial features of the modern Russian society and puts limits to implement modernization.
