The article attempts to analyze the social activities of monasteries and monastic communities of the South Ussuri region in the late 19th–early 20th centuries. The question of the activity of the monastic clergy in the care and assistance to the immigrants who have arrived in the Russian Far East is considered. It is shown that monasteries performed the most important social functions: they contributed to the enlightenment and spiritual guidance of settlers, participated in charitable activities, taught the newcomers to the peasants in the peculiarities of local farming. It is concluded that the monastic monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church made an invaluable contribution to the education of young patriots, which significantly influenced the formation and strengthening of statehood in the Far Eastern outskirts of Russia.
