The article considers the socio-cultural phenomenon of the relationship of people in the era of fast and free access of millions of Russian citizens to the World (Global) Network. The author shows the increasing influence of Internet communications on the behavior and intellectual development of the individual and asserts that the task of scientists and teachers in the era of mass digital technologies is to teach the widest sections of the population the art of deciphering texts, to create logical-consistent, high quality, coherent, internally organized contents. A computer literacy program should include not only a technical and practical component, be aimed at the constant development of new technologies and software products, but, above all, should have an axiological component, implying a priority value of human life, health, and spiritual development of the individual.
