The article dwells on the socio-political moods of the Vologda Oblast residents in the 2008 – 2012 period. It examines the population’s attitude towards the current political system of Russia, ideas of the role and place of an individual in the system, the sense that the government secures the civil rights of the population, the level of trust to the state and social institutions of the country, political preferences. Changes in socio-political moods of the population in the year of presidential elections are noted.
