Social welfare of population in the context of regional development (on the example of the Primorsky territory)

In the article the basic characteristics of the social welfare of population in the Primorsky territory are considered. It focuses on such parameters as material conditions and social well-being. The main results of empirical sociological research are presented, they reveal the assessment of social welfare of the inhabitants in Primorye. The research has shown that the level and quality of life, employment, social stratification, social well-being are the main factors determining the opinion of respondents on social welfare. The authors come to conclusion that the transformation processes, characteristic for the Russian society in general, and specific regional peculiarities have led to profound changes in the lives of the Primorye inhabitants. In particular, it has been revealed that among the inhabitants of the Primorsky territory negative assessment of the degree of their social well-being are widespread.
