Social and economic development of the northern territories of the Far East (on the example of the municipal formation of the city district "Okhinsky" of the Sakhalin region)

The purpose of this article is to analyze the trends of socio-economic development of the municipality of the city district "Okhinsky" of the Sakhalin region. The relevance of this study lies in the fact that the development of the northern territories is determined by the effective realization of their socio-economic potential, which is expressed in the availability of necessary resources, the definition of their structure, the degree of completeness of their use in more difficult climatic and geographical conditions. Based on statistical data, indicators are calculated to assess the socio-economic situation of the municipality. Such indicators include the growth rates of industrial production, indicators of the consumer market, transport infrastructure, the volume and sources of investment in fixed assets, the dynamics of employment and average wages for the main types of economic activity, demographic indicators, as well as indicators of social infrastructure. On the basis of the analysis, the factors constraining the socio-economic development of the urban district were identified.
