The article considers bilingualism and multilingualism as forms of language communication in the regions of the. Russian Federation. The Russian language becomes a component of many versions of bilingualism: Russian - Buryat, Russian - Yakut, Russian - Khakass etc. Practically all nationalities and ethnic groups of Russia can speak it, that is why it is general for the peoples of our country, or it is the interethnic language. However, regional languages, used by part of people in certain regions of the country can be considered as means of communication for representatives of different nationalities and ethnic groups.
