The urgency of the chosen theme is determined by the special role of Orthodoxy in the formation of Russian values in terms of modernization, the low level of religious culture of the population and ever-increasing social functions of Orthodoxy in modern Russian society, especially after the election of Kirill the Patriarch, as well as the expansion of the interaction of church and state. Currently, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) intensifies its activities in all spheres of social and cultural reality of Russian society with the help of the basic functions of the institute of religion. The Orthodox religion and the church as the social institutions have their main social functions and perform a social role in society.
