Social and natural factors of city environment of the region

The article is devoted to the problem of inter-influence between natural and social factors on the formation of the city environment in Mordovia and the concentration of its cultural potential. The mechanism of interrelation between «the centre» and «the periphery», the phenomenon of the one in two development of city culture are under analysis.
