Identifying the causes of violence in intimate-personal relationships is one of the important tasks in the field of security psychology, which has not yet been fully resolved . In modern research, the study of young people’s social perceptions of violence in intimate-personal relationships is crucial for the development of methods to prevent its occurrence . Victimhood in behavior is often determined by inadequate perceptions of “red lines” in relationships and attitudes to their violation . The study of the peculiarities of social perceptions presented in this article on the example of students of Kaluga State University named after K . E . Tsiolkovsky allowed to reveal the specifics of perception, formed images, associations, meanings, ideas, values, attitudes, on the basis of which students explain violence in relationships . The obtained results allowed us to come to the conclusion that the studied consider this problem to be actual and widespread all over the world, perceive violence in intimate-personal relations as culturally and historically conditioned destructive actions of psychological and physical nature, based on inequality, use of force and power, pressure and control, leading to harmful consequences of psychological and physical nature and having no legal solution .
