Social fanaticism as a manifestation of the worldview crisis in the era of globalization

The article considers the role of social fanaticism in the era of globalization. Fanaticism is understood as a phenomenon characterized by joint action of personal existential, cultural, worldview and sociopolitical factors. It is noted that the sources of fanatical consciousness and the prerequisites for creation of its institutional forms are rooted in the problem of overcoming modern social crises. We believe that the predicted by P. A. Sorokin transformation of mankind can become a basis for preventing fanaticism at the social level. The combination of social and economic conditions, which are conducive to the violation of personal integrity, estrangement of a person from true self-actualization, value standards of consumerist society, unresolved social and personal conflicts creates an interconnected complex of factors forming modern fanaticism. Overcoming fanaticism, the related extremism and terrorism is based on discovering the ability to altruistic love as a social and personal ideal.
