Social and cultural adaptation of the Kurds in the Republic of Adygea: sociological discourse

The article studies a Kurd ethnic group living in the Republic of Adygea and contacting with the other ethnical communities of the region. The authors pay special attention to the problems of the sociocultural adaptation in the host country and integration of the Kurd ethnic group into the multiethnic environment of Adygea. The empirical base is formed using results of the deep nonformalized interview methodology. The authors research cultural phenomena as markers of the ethno-cultural distinctiveness. The undertaken study allows the authors to conclude that the Kurds’ sociocultural adaptation in the Republic of Adygea in 2000 was progressing as a separation type. 10 years later the situation has changed, adaptation strategy is building now as an integration type.
