Though the founders of the Russian neuropsychology always emphasized the significance of cultural (ethnic) factors and such social factors as age, education, group affiliation, there are still few empiric researches of correlation between defects in mental processes and sociocultural background of patients. The authors carry out a research with participation of addicts under the age of 35 and after 36, with secondary and higher education. The undertaken study proves that not only the type of the consumed substances impact on the seriousness of the defect, but also maturity of meaningful orientations and self-regulation abilities, directly determined by the educational status.
