Sociocultural functions of social simulation

The article is devoted to those functions that social simulation implements within the socio-cultural reality. The analysis of the concepts generalizing ideas about certain aspects of the existence of socio-cultural reality and understanding of the various manifestations of simulation in the society allowed the author to distinguish four groups of the socio-cultural functions of the social simulation concerning, respectively, preserving of their status by the social elites, quasi-resolving of the crises and conflicts in the society, symbolic reproduction of the former states of the society, and formation of people''s misconceptions about reality not interfering with their orientation in it.
