Socio-cultural characteristics of modern Russian society

The article is devoted to the problem of researching socio-cultural characteristics of modern Russian society. The author provides two concepts for researching socio-cultural characteristics according to which the special attention of researchers is drawn by the subject of subjectivity of the Russian society, and also by substitution of the Soviet system of values for the liberal Western one. The author also puts forward the thesis that modernization in the Russian society has sporadic, local character in the closed groups that creates a destructive tendency for society in general. In the article the problem of interrelation of Western and East valuable cultural paradigms in the context of researching socio-cultural characteristics of modern Russian society is also considered. The author considers that the main reason for socio-cultural apathy of the Russian society is in destruction of subjectivity of society as generator of new traditions and norms, behavioral stereotypes and updating of the cultural code.
