Sociocultural aspect in the life of believers of the Republic of Bashkortostan (according to sociological research materials)

The aim of this article is to identify and comparatively analyze the degree of participation of regular members of Orthodox and Muslim religious communities in some areas of social and cultural life on the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan. By regular members, we mean believers with high rates of religious conduct and participation in religious life. The results of the study demonstrate that the majority of regular members of the Orthodox and Muslim communities of the Republic of Bashkortostan rarely or never visit cultural, art and sports institutions, as well as cultural events. At the same time, there are slightly more Muslims among the respondents who visit such institutions. Muslims are especially active in sports and tourism. Most of the respondents of both denominations are active and inactive members of religious organizations, however, the following phenomenon takes place among both Muslims and Orthodox Christians. The authors identify that a third of the interviewees, being believers with high rates of religious behavior and participation in religious life, do not consider themselves members of religious organization. This phenomenon is associated with the processes of individualization in modern Russian society, accompanying the weakening of ties between the individual and social groups. The overwhelming majority of respondents of both denominations are not members of professional, political and sports organizations, as well as cultural and art organizations.
