Socio-cultural split in the Russian society from the perspective of the civilizational approach

The article analyses the causes and consequences of the sociocultural split that caused the collapse of the USSR and transition to the market economy and the extremely inequitable socio-political structure in post-Soviet Russia. The author considers the causes of the so-cio-cultural split, as well as its historical roots, in the context of the civilizational paradigm. The paper considers the prospective location of Russia between East and West considering current collisions and conflicts between Western and Eastern civilizations.
