The Content of Modern Civil Activism

The article reveals the concept of civic activism on the base of foreign and Russian research. In general, civic activism is interpreted as actions of citizens aimed at encouraging, restraining, direct or indirect interference in the adoption of social, political, economic, environmental decisions of the authorities and the promotion of civic initiatives with the intention of social change. The author gives the foundations for research of civic activism in theories of social movements and political participation. Key areas of civic activism are associated with trends in social development. The article notes a number of modern types of civic activism, based on a specific field of activity.
