The ratio of cash and non-cash in the modern economy: displacement or retention?

The article presents the results of testing the hypothesis of the need to preserve cash in the money supply. the material of the article continues the author’s research. for the analysis, a 12-year period from 2008 to 2020 was taken. development in the russian economy. this period includes many important events: the crisis of 2008-2009, the growth and decline of inflation, bilateral sanctions, the pandemic, which led to a change in the ratio of cash and non-cash in the money supply. it is emphasized that the excessive increase in the share of non-cash payments also carries many dangers in emergency situations: man-made disasters and failures in the online data transmission system. In this work, general scientific and special research methods were used: statistical materials of Rosstat, the Bank of Russia, works of leading domestic and foreign authors, articles published in periodicals serve as an information base. the estimates were made using data analysis from the bank of Russia and Rosstat.
