The basic aspects of studying of speech genres in native linguistics are considered in the article. The discussion questions of classification of genres connected with their primary and secondary character, dialogic predisposition, revealing the illocutive goal are taken up. On this basis the correlation of the concepts "speech genre" and "speech act" is investigated, their basic distinctions are revealed.
