Correlation of expressions Comitia Calata and Comitia Curiata

The article examines different options of correlation of expressions comitia calata and comitia curiata. According to the dominating theories in Russian and foreign historiography, comitia calata and comitia curiata are two different types of peoples assemblies. Determining factor which distinguished these two types was participation or non-participation of Pontifex Maximus in the assembly. By studying the basic theories, the author concludes that comitia calata and comitia curiata are the names of the same popular assembly in different periods of its evolution.
