The rivalry of the USA and Great Britain in China in the end of XIX – beginning of XX centuries

The article deals with main directions of the US and British policy in China in the context of international relations in the Far East at the turn of XIX-XX centuries. The author explores the specific details of Anglo-American relations, cooperation of these states and reasons for their rivalry. The main conclusion is that despite serious economic competition between the USA and England in China, the key problem of their rivalry had to do with the influence and interests of other actors of regional international system. Great Britain had to support its allies that secured both regional and global balance of power and often be in opposition to the US policy.
