Comparative analysis of the interpretation of the notion “alienation” in marxist (Marx) and neomarxist (Marcuse) theory

The article shows the evolution of alienation and of the interpretation of this notion within the bounds of marxist and neomarxist theory on the basis of Karl Marx’s and Herbert Marcuse’s works. The point is that the philosophers are great representatives of two different epochs; consequently by comparing their interpretations of one notion an inference about the evolution of the society can be drawn.
