Comparative structural-semantic analysis of English and Russian proverbs expressing the moral-ethic sense dominant "studying, knowledge, wisdom”

The article is devoted to a comparative structural and semantic analysis of English and Russian proverbs expressing the moral and ethical dominance of "studying, knowledge, wisdom". The relevance of the study is determined by the insufficient study of the proverbs of this semantic group in a comparative aspect from the point of view of identifying their phraseological meaning, the figurative basis, the semantics of lexical components, the syntactic structure, expressive-evaluative and expressive means, and the origin of proverbs. This analysis made it possible to identify the similarity and peculiarities of figurative thinking, the national peculiarity of the proverbs of this thematic group of English and Russian peoples. The analysis showed that, despite the fact that English and Russian are not closely related languages and express different historical and cultural experiences, they have much in common, and therefore the values of many proverbs are universal. They are often based on similar images, close syntactic constructions and lexical components. Both Russian and English proverbs of this semantic field are characterized by less imagery and expressiveness. They contain teachings, instructions, and calls for the need for knowledge. For this purpose, incentive, non-union proposals are widely used, comparative, comparative constructions that contribute to the conciseness and aphorism of proverbs. Vocabulary is often neutral, used in a direct, not in a figurative sense. In both languages there are many original proverbs inherent in the mentality of this people. In addition, English and Russian proverbs are distinguished by their origin. This analysis made it possible to reveal the peculiarities of figurative thinking and the national identity of the proverbs of the two linguistic cultural ethnicities.
