The article analyses the results of the expert survey/interview about the state of ethno-social processes and the level of ethnic tension in the South of Russia, which indicate the presence of ethnic tension in the region. Based on the study of expert evaluations of the ethno-social situation in the South of Russia, it has been found that the existing different opinions of experts are not alternatives, but may coexist according to the principle of complementarity.
