We analyzed levels of several cytokines (including IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10) and antibodies against them in serum, dentogingival fluid, and oral fluid of patients with acute purulent periostitis. The development of an abscess was associated with an increase in the level of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8) and a decrease in the level of antiinflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10) in the dentogingival fluid and oral fluid. At the same time, the concentration of anti-IL-8 secretory class A autoantibodies increased, while the level of anti-IL-10 antibodies reduced.
