During previous three years the agriculture of Russia has been operat-ing in difficult economic conditions connected with economic crisis, sanc-tions imposed by the western and some eastern countries and reciprocal embargo on import of group of foodstuff of the countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Norway and Australia. In the study the object of analysing current state of Russian agriculture was set, which is are achieved by use of statistical and analytical methods of research. On the basis of this analysis the conclusion about the achievement of positive results in the pro-duction of separate types of agricultural production is drawn. Considerable results are reached in plant growing, especially in the production of grain, leguminous and commercial crops. In animal husbandry the progress is less impressive, the production of cattle and birds for slaughter in live weight, eggs grew, however, the production of milk was reduced. At the same time the output of agricultural production does not correspond to consumer de-mand that confirms the increase in prices for the food especially connected with countersanctions. Therefore the state set the object of achievement of the outputs in agriculture necessary for domestic market saturation. Con-siderable state support of agrarian sector and development of both internal and foreign market of agrarian production is necessary for the achievement of this purpose.
