This article has the following research objectives: first, to make an analysis of the international legal basis for the Arctic states’ cooperation on emergency situations prevention and search and rescue operations; second, to study the existing cooperative experiences at the bi- and multilateral levels; third, to suggest some practical recommendations to improve such a cooperation from the Russian national interests’ point of view
