Improvement of Silvicultural System for Conversion of Deciduous-Coniferous Plantations into Coniferous Ones

Due to big spread, accumulation and limited utilization of softwood stands by forest industry for harvesting issues of efficient targeted production and use mixed hardwood softwood plantations (with softwood species forest and coniferous undergrowth) is urgent over many decades. Its solution urgency is growing given current global change challenge and need to raise carbon sequestration by forests. The paper reviews forest treatment options for mixed hardwood softwood stands based on development of current reshaping pattern of such stands into coniferous (softwood\hardwood) in combination with intensive production targeted at its maximum performance (growth) implementation and respective carbon sequestration and conservation rise, timber and biomass production for durable goods production as well as bio-energy products (fossil fuel substitution)/ Development implementation is provided by introduction of amendments and updates to available regulations (Forest treatment rules).
