Improvement of methodological tools or assessing the quality of urban space

This article presents the results of a study of methodological aspects for assessing the quality of urban space. The analysis of the author’s approaches and official methods is carried out, each of which is a set of indicators that make it possible to assess the attractiveness of the biosocial environment within the boundaries of a certain territory administratively designated as an urban settlement, from the point of view of obtaining a basic set of goods and services by a person. The purpose of the study is to clarify the content of the system of basic indicators for assessing the quality of urban space in order to obtain objective evidence of the degree of compliance of urban space parameters with certain criteria. The main methods of scientific research are methods of analysis of regulatory sources, qualimetric assessment, ranking and other general scientific methods. In the course of the study, basic indicators for assessing the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of urban space were identified, in addition to the methods used in most of them, it is proposed to include the architectural and historical attractiveness of the city, the development of large, medium and small businesses, the safety of the population and the development of a tourist zone. The main results of the conducted research are the explication of urban space, which includes three basic factors (economic, social and environmental) and sublevels, which together determine the system of indicators; a multifactorial model of the urban space quality assessment system; an updated system for assessing the quality of urban space. It is concluded that the use of an updated system of assessment indicators will, on the one hand, provide a complete understanding of the degree of compliance of the quality of urban space with human expectations and the current level of social development, and, on the other hand, makes it possible to identify signal points for the subsequent development and justification of measures to improve the territory and improve the comfort of life, as well as to strengthen competitive advantages and reduce the impact of negative factors on the development of urban space.
