Improving approaches to strategic planning socio-economic development of regions (based on materials of the Southern federal district of the RF)

The article examines the main macroeconomic indicators of the Southern Federal District of the RF, in particular, the dynamics of the share of the SFD in the total gross value added (GVA) by region of the RF for the period 2018-2022. A comparative analysis of GVA growth rates was carried out in the context of types of economic activity in the SFD, on the basis of which a ranking was made by growth rates. An approach to improving strategic planning of socio-economic development of regions is substantiated, based on strengthening the competitiveness of those types of economic activity that show the highest growth rates in the creation of added value. The practical implementation of such an approach to medium- and long-term planning of socio-economic development of regions/macroregions of the RF will ensure optimal use of available resources, as well as factors that determine the natural competitive advantages of regions/macroregions. The results of the study can be used by state authorities of the RF and constituent entities of the RF in the preparation of administrative-legal and organizational-economic measures of the state policy of spatial development.
