The article presents the preliminary results of the project № 15-11-14003 with financial support from the Russian Humanities Research Foundation and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The authors consider the agricultural policy of the Soviet government regarding indigenous rural population of Kolyma region of Yakutia in the 1920-1930-s. The paper reviews the changes in population size and the processes of northern economy nationalization.
