Soviet theater and asthetic education of a city dweller in the 1950s-1960s

The article is devoted to the role of theater in the aesthetic education of the urban population of the USSR. In the study of this issue, attention is drawn to the role of the theater building in the harmonization of urban space; describes the mechanism that allows the performance to form the aesthetic tastes of the viewer. At the same time, the reasons that did not allow to fully realize the potential of the theater in the field of aesthetic education are analyzed.
