With limited access to foreign credit markets and the transition of economic entities to domestic financial resources, the number of borrowers of bank loans and overdue loans is growing, updating attention on improving the methodology used to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers for a qualitative assessment of the current and future financial condition of potential borrowers. In the article, using the example of the methodology used by the largest Russian bank with a high rating in the banking market, it is proposed to make a change in the methodology for assessing the creditworthiness of the borrower. The change relates to the forecast assessment of the possibility/impossibility of bankruptcy of the borrower in the future by additional analysis using the Sayfullin-Kadykov model. Along with the current financial condition of the borrower, determined by the bank’s methodology, predictive analysis becomes a key factor in the changed conditions of economic development and an important aspect of the qualitative determination of credit risk. In conclusion, the conclusion is made about the recommendations of the proposed methodology.
