Modern society in the paradigm of military-political turbulence: value transformations

This article provides a comparative analysis of key value categories, covering the transition from a stable society to a state of social, political and economic tension. The author identifies the specifics of value transformation in Russian society and defines the value structure of the society based on the data of the World Values Survey for 1990-2014 and the research conducted at the Department of Sociology and Psychology of Politics of Moscow State University. The author also presents the results of an empirical study that reveals two trends in the transformation of political values of Russians: the change in the content of the main list of value orientations and the change of value paradigms, where the “traditional trend” is replaced by the “material trend”.
