Modern Russian Cossacks: demographic characteristics and scale of settlement

The article complements the portrait of the modern Russian Cossacks in matters related to the processes of resettlement and distribution of various ethno-social Cossack communities. The article presents the results of a study of the phenomenon of the Cossacks, the purpose of which was to identify a number of demographic characteristics, followed by grouping and highlighting the regions of Russia that became the centers of development of the Cossack movement. The result of the study was a picture of the distribution of various ethno-social Cossack communities and their description in terms of a set of key demographic characteristics. Also in the course of the study, the ethno-social structure of the Cossacks, the scale and level of settlement were revealed, the centers of development of the phenomenon under study were identified.
