Avifauna of abandoned apple orchads in the central region of the European part of Russia

Observations, carried out 2011-2013 in the abandoned apple orchards of the Central Region of the European part of Russia, revealed 37 nesting species of birds. Passerines were absolutely dominant – 31 species of the total number. 12 nesting species were nesting in all the orchards examined. Density of birds during the breeding season has varied from 6,7 to 10,6 individuals per ha.
