Current state and current directions of support for victims of crime in Japan

The article considers a set of legal and organizational measures aimed at providing assistance to victims of crime and ensuring their real participation in the process of justice, as well as its stages. On the basis of the analysis, the most relevant problems for Japan at the present time are shown, related to the increase in the number of violent crimes. Statistics show an increase in victims of domestic violence, child abuse, an increase in juvenile delinquency, and sexual crimes against women. The article provides examples showing the role of the government, the police and the public in overcoming negative manifestations. On the basis of an interdisciplinary approach, the culturally determined causes of these phenomena are substantiated and possible directions for their solution are proposed.
