The current state and prospects for the development of Russian-American relations

The article examines the current problems of U.S.-Russian relations, analyzes their evolution and the peculiarities of bilateral interaction after the Cold War. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the causes of modern confrontation, the different understanding of the modern world order, the fundamental contradictions on the question of the place of Russia and the United States in the transformation of the existing system of international relations. Russia as a great power has its own vision of the future world order and its place in it as one of the global centers of power. The United States, on the other hand, defends a largely unipolar vision, in which the West plays a dominant role, and does not agree to more just and equitable international cooperation after the end of the Cold War. The trends and prospects for U.S.-Russian relations will largely depend on the outcome of the current confrontation, which centers on the conflict in Ukraine.
