The current state of small business in Russia

In modern market conditions, the role of small business for the socio-economic development of the country is increasing. Small businesses participate in the formation of budgets at all levels, create additional jobs, promote competition, and accelerate the modernization and innovative development of the country. This study examines the criteria for classifying business entities as small businesses; the role of small business in the Russian economy is described; the relationship between small business and gross domestic product is explained; Statistical observation was carried out based on official statistics. The dynamics of GDP and the share of small and medium-sized businesses in the gross domestic product, as well as the dynamics of the number of small businesses are analyzed. The key factors for the reduction of small businesses have been identified. The structure of the territorial location and belonging to the economic sectors of small businesses is considered.
