Current state of the market of international container transportation in Russia

The article is devoted to the current issue, the current state of the international container transportation market. This type of transportation is the most convenient, as it allows you to exclude intermediate reloading of goods when changing vehicles, which reduces the time and cost of transporting goods. The authors note that, despite the absolute growth in the volume of container traffic in recent years, the growth rate is declining. The situation in the development of container transportation in the Russian Federation is greatly influenced by external factors: international sanctions against Russia, rising fuel costs, the inability to use seaports that are in the war zone, the refusal of the leading maritime shipping container lines to transport goods from the Russian Federation. In the Russian container transportation market, rail transportation demonstrates stable growth dynamics. The resulting supply chain disruptions are prompting Russian transport companies to build new local supply chains. Possible routes and main factors hindering the development of container transportation are considered. The study focuses on the main areas for a breakthrough, offers a toolkit and possible options for the development of the industry.
