Modern biotechnologies in production in the service of environmental protection

The article is devoted to the consideration of the processes of effective application of modern biotechnologies in agriculture. The author noted that the agricultural sector of the economy is distinguished by the presence of waste-intensive production and its transition to ecologically closed biological systems with a high level of use of natural resources and energy is one of the most important conditions for solving the environmental problem. As the most rational way of using organic waste of agricultural production in the form of animal manure, the paper presents the technology of their anaerobic digestion with the production of such gaseous fuel as biogas. The author notes that anaerobic processing of animal waste, in which pathogenic microorganisms are destroyed, helps to reduce bacterial contamination of both soils and groundwater.
