Contemporary contours of Swiss neutrality

The article is devoted to the analysis of genealogy of Swiss neutrality that in the context of modern geopolitical turbulence and contemporary Ukraine - Russia crisis now begins to modify and has unexpected results. The author asserts that Swiss joining NATO's program «Partnership for Peace» shows that traditional Swiss advantage of neutrality gradually gives way to more substantial advantages of more deep participation in the globalization process alongside with European countries and the United States. The author stresses that Switzerland being an initiator of and supporter of Geneva Conventions is especially responsible for collective security policy and peaceful coexistence. From the author’s point of view, Swiss policy of neutrality, despite all new changes, continues to be an effective option, which can be successfully implemented for gaining Swiss national interests and security.
