Modern sewage sludge treatment methods

The article shows the relevance of sewage sludge (SS) treatment in connection with the growth of waste water volumes and the need to protect the environment. The composition of SS and methods for purification of primary and secondary SS are characterized. The shortcomings of the SS traditional natural dehydration on sludge plots and mechanical vacuum filtration are shown. The features and advantages of modern methods of filter pressing and centrifugation and related equipment are generalized. The advantages of filter presses and decanters in dehydration of large volumes of SS are determined.
