Modern directions and problems of small business development in the rural areas of the Republic of Bashkortostan

The article updates the role and importance of small business for the sustainable development of rural municipalities in our country. The strategic importance of small businesses in the current system of rural areas is shown, taking into account the existing production ties, the realized potential, a certain contribution to the achievement of food self-sufficiency of the rural and urban population with basic foodstuffs. Modern trends in the development of small business in rural areas of the region are considered on the example of Bashkortostan and the contribution of peasant (farmer) households in the total regional volume of agri-food production is determined. The authors identified the key problems of the functioning of small businesses in rural areas of the region. Emphasizes the need for local authorities to support «starting» small businesses in rural areas. The possibility of activating the processes of strategic partnership between municipal governments, rural entrepreneurs and farmers is summarized.
