Modern features of the development of the wood processing industry in the forestry regions of Russia

In the article, based on a review of modern economic sources and analysis of statistical information, the key features and various aspects of the development of the woodworking industry in the regions of the Russian Federation are investigated. The main threats and risks of branch development in the conditions of modern economic uncertainty are revealed. The dynamics of the volume of logging in the timber industry regions of Russia for 2017-2022 has been studied. A significant decrease in logging volumes has been established since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and the complication of the international situation. Domestic regions-leaders and regions-outsiders have been determined in terms of the profitability of the woodworking industry. Comparison of indicators of branch development of Krasnoyarsk and Perm territories and the Russian Federation as a whole is carried out. Based on the dynamics of official wages by type of activity in the Perm Territory, conclusions about intra-industry features are formulated. In conclusion, promising directions for increasing the competitiveness of the timber industry regions of the country are substantiated.
