Modern approaches to the evaluation of regional competitiveness

The article reviews approaches to the criteria of assessment of the regional socio-economic development in the modern economic conditions. In particular, the author considers the process of evaluating, which allows to distinguish effective vectors of territories’ development, to stimulate their specialization and stability, to increase investment attractiveness and possibility to involve other resources for competitive growth of the Russian Federation regions and, subsequently, of the country in general.
